Today is the first day of the year that the sun will not rise above the horizon at all for Mawson Station. It will remain out of sight for the next four weeks leaving us mostly in darkness and with only a few hours of twilight each day. The blizzard is still raging outside, now fifty five knots.

In the morning I took a heap of equipment over to the green store and in the afternoon I spent most of the day in the transmitter hut wiring up the 1kW transmitter and earthing the cabinets. When I ran out of materials I cleaned up the rigging store and it now looks pretty good. Luc’s movie was pretty good and afterwards we watched a few series of Swift & Shift. That show is so funny.
