Wednesday 15th May 2013

This morning was cold and windy and not very inviting. I went out looking for the lens out of my glasses that I lost last night and amazingly found it laying on the ground near where I was filming last night so I put my glasses back together again for about the hundredth time.

I spent most of the day working on the telephone fault which I am sure is a programming error caused by some changes having been made in Kingston.

Four of the guy’s headed off to Auster rookery on quads this morning. I would have loved to be going with them but it sure looked cold and unforgiving as they rode off into the drifting snow in the strong wind. Auster rookery is where the emperor penguins breed and this is the first trip there of the season so it will be interesting to hear back how many penguins are there yet.

The days are getting so short now with only about 4 to 5 hours of day light each day. I hate getting up in the dark and finishing work in the dark. It's only going to get worse. At least the sun rises and sun sets are spectacular.

  2. That's sun rise looking north east.
Nar Rowdy's OK. It looked a bit bruised so I had a whisper to the doc and he grabbed him and took an x-ray and it was fine. He's a seasoned expeditioner who wouldn’t hurt in an avalanche.
